The Most Powerful Movie in the Universe

The boys relaxing while watching their favorite Christmas show, He-Man and She-Ra Christmas Special.

Jason stayed awake this year which was pretty amazing! He usually falls asleep and I'm sitting there watching Skeletor thinking to myself, "why on earth am I the only one watching this?"

Kent really loved the movie and afterwards was in an "everything He-Man" mode which made Jason very happy.

Movie Night and More

We went to an outdoor movie at the local hospital last week. They are celebrating their 5th anniversary this year and had a huge party. There were games and face painting for the kids. Hot dogs, nachos, water, ice cream, popcorn for everyone. And then a showing of Hotel Transylvania. All for free! Can't beat that. It started out really stinkin' hot. but once the sun went down it was only the humidity we had to deal with.

Kent had a great time. He was all about the games where you could win free candy.

Holy cow! Jason's eyes are OPEN! It's a miracle!

Kent Turns 3!

Kent finally turned 3! Sometimes it seems like forever before these kids turn the next age. I'm not sure if it is wonderful that he is three or if it is still terrible. Sometimes it is worse than 2...

We had a fantastic day celebrating his birthday though! We started with blue waffles.

Then he got a new Monster Jam Grave Digger shirt. I don't think he is going to want to wear a different shirt ever again. It even has his name on the sleeve! Too cool.

Kent asked to go miniature golfing and we were happy to go along with him! The boys are so funny to golf with. Kent will usually hit the ball from the start and then he runs down, picks it up and puts it about 6 inches from the hole and then knocks it in. Clark prefers the drag-it-to-the-hole method of getting a hole in one. Towards the end the boys were just throwing the ball towards the hole so they didn't have to count their first stroke. Good thing we weren't keeping score.

After lunch we took Kent to Toys-R-Us to pick out some toys. It's always fun to just say yes to them after telling them most of the year...no, we're not getting you a toy today.

Here is the happy birthday boy with his purchases. I'll give you one guess of what he bought.

I was pretty exhausted after that, so Kara and I went home while the boys went to the carnival. They quickly returned when they found out that Kent couldn't ride a single thing and Clark could ride one ride but only if Jason was on there with him. What a bummer.

So we decided to take in a movie instead. I figured I would be okay to just sit in a theater for a while. We went to see Epic. I was hoping that it was going to be better.

After the movie and dinner we had a birthday cookie with FROSTING. That's the most important part for Kent.

I taught him how to do 3 just like I did when I was 3! So cute!

A couple of presents and then we were all ready for bed!

Happy Birthday to my big boy Kent!

May 4, 2013: Carousel, Kare Bear, Free Comics and Star Wars

What a full day we had on May 4th! It was a lot of fun to be able to just spend time having fun together as a family. We didn't do too many chores and we tried to just enjoy the day. We don't get a whole lot of days like that around here.

We started at the mall and of course we had a carousel ride because dad was with us.

And we stuffed Kara's special little Kare Bear at Build A Bear Workshop. The boys were so cute cleaning her up and getting her ready. They are excited for their sister to come. Jason bought the bear ahead of time and brought it home so I could sew on the supergirl patch. Then we took it back to stuff.

Next stop...Graham Cracker Comics for Free Comic Book Day which is the first Saturday of May each year. Maybe we have it set up as a repeating event on our Cozi Calendar. Maybe. We of course had to pick up a Star Wars edition since it was May 4th.

Then we had a baptism and a birthday party and then our first outdoor movie night of the year!

It was still a bit cold out for Star Wars Day, but you can't tell Jason no when it comes to outdoor movies. We just bundle up and brave the cold. We kept with tradition and picked up Milky Way and Star Crunch. This year we even added Yoda Soda. It's our typical punch just made green.

And here's the new set up with the inflatable screen. We are trying to figure out where we want everything and then Jason is actually going to run power out there. It sure will beat having wires everywhere.

It was good. The fourth was with us.

Earth Day 2013

I love Earth Day. I have no idea why. It's just such a great day to enjoy our beautiful Earth. I was so glad when the cold weather broke this year long enough to play outside and have a "picmic" as Kent would say. It wasn't much of a picmic either. We had drinks and some string cheese. But he looks happy enough.

Then he got to run around with Cutlass. She might be getting old, but she still loves to run with Kent.

When Clark got home from school we had to choose one of our beautification projects to work on. His choices were... 1 - The Great American Backyard Clean Up or 2 - Operations Put the Rocks in the Box. His response, "I wish Earth Day was in the winter." He was even getting paid to fill the boxes with rocks which is what we decided to work on.

He spent most of his time picking up roly polies.

We did a little Earth Day dinner. I figured they should try to eat something grown from the earth. So we had strawberries and pineapple with an Orange Creamsicle Fruit Dip which Kent preferred to eat without the fruit. We also had a Chinese Chicken Salad with Sesame Dressing. It was SOOO good. I added some mandarin oranges which made it even better. We ate this salad for two nights...that is unheard of in the Wilde household. We don't do leftovers.

Kent enjoying his toothpicks, or "pickles" as he calls them sometimes.

Clark taking a mean bite out of that yummy strawberry.

We finished the night up with some dirt and worms and Wings of Life, the new Disneynature documentary.

LOVE Earth Day.

May The 4th Be With You

The other day a favorite blog posted about Star Wars Day. I had no idea there was such a thing. It's an annual event held on May the 4th. I'm a big fan of the puns, so this one had me chuckling all day long. May the 4th be with you...hehe! Clark decided that we should celebrate by watching Star Wars (the one with the Jedis). Jason decided that we should kick off the outdoor movie watching season. I decided that we needed treats. It was quite a last minute celebration, so we had to improvise!

Star Crunch and Milky Way seemed appropriate.

Boompa, Gigi, Stephanie, Kent, Zachery and Clara all getting ready for the movie to begin...

Zachery, Clark and Cameron trying to stay warm. Clark is such a baby about the flash. Cracks me up. "It's soooooo bright, mom."

The Princess Leia buns were a very last minute idea (as in 3 seconds before the picture) that's why they are a little sloppy. I had to borrow a ponytail holder from Steph to make them work. Next year we'll do it up right! I'm dressing as a wookie. :)

Return of the Jedi - good, good movie. Any movie with Ewoks is a good movie in my book. Do you remember The Ewok Adventure? I must have watched that a million times when I was little. "Star Cruiser, crsh, crsh." Love it.

I've already marked my calendar for May 4th, 2013...it's going to be a great Star Wars Day! (It'll probably look a lot like this one, hehe!)

My Movies

This week I've watched two movies just for me! They are movies I've seen 100 times, maybe more. But whenever I get to watch a movie on my own, these are the ones I pop in. I can do other stuff and still know when to look up for my favorite parts. And these are movies I can't watch when boys are around. They just don't get it.

Ever After & Pride and Prejudice (sorry who has time for the 6 hour version?)

Peter Pan Returned

I'm not sure if you've been counting down at your house, but everyday Clark asks me how many days until Monday, February 13th. He's been so excited to see Jake and the Neverland Pirates: Peter Pan Returns. We sat down to watch it and I said, "Wow, Clark are you excited to see this? We've waited such a long time." Clark's reply (with much emotion...almost reverence), "And now it's finally here."

I decided to make a special Family Home Evening for it. Dinner and a movie sort of night. And I had to stretch on the dinner menu since we don't eat seafood. Or at least I don't cook seafood. Blech. What else would a pirate eat?

Dinner: Neverland Haystacks (aka Hawaiian Haystacks)
I'm not sure if you've ever had Neverland Haystacks before (I hadn't before BYU) but they are so good. Start with a bed of rice, add some cooked chicken to some cream of chicken soup on top, then just keep adding the toppings of your choice. We like pineapple, mandarin oranges, corn, cheese, and those crunchy rice noodles on top. Yum! Some people like to add some other colors...we like beige...but you could add peas or celery or broccoli or whatever. Jason used to put sunflower seeds on his, but I always forget to buy those.

Movie time with my favorite boys

Just like their dad...doesn't work well with a flash.

Dessert: None other than a chocolate Tic Toc Croc
My parents brought back this yummy chocolate alligator from the Keys last week and I thought it would be perfect for our Peter Pan night.

The verdict: Clark wants to watch it again tomorrow.
