Easter 2014 was two days of non-stop fun. Yep...two days. We celebrated on Saturday with Jason's family. Cute little kids in a fun hammock swing!
Kara loved the Easter egg hunt. Especially since people just brought the eggs to her.
Clark checking out the goods...
Kara is funny with sunglasses. She doesn't like to keep them on but we just keep putting them back on her and made it a game. We put them on, she pulls them off and makes a little pffffffttt sound. Then we do it again. And again. And again.
Baskets on Sunday from the bunny
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right?
Dressed in their Sunday best for church.
My awful attempt at a family Easter picture. Major fail.
We spent Sunday evening with my family at my brother's house. There was lots of hula hooping! And more eggs of course!
Spring Break continued with a trip to the Museum of Science and Industry. I was telling Clark about the Wright brothers a while ago so when we got to the museum he was really excited to be able to see the replica of the first flying machine. That kid has an amazing memory.
We went to a special Earth Explorers exhibit by National Geographic. It was a super interactive exhibit where they were able to climb, touch, explore, and learn about five different climates. The boys loved it. Kara was along for the ride.
I was fascinated by the crittercams they use to take point of view video. They have one attached to the fin of this shark. It seems unbelievable that they would be able to put this on to a great white shark and get video. But they do!
The polar regions were another favorite - more penguins!
I think Kent loved having Clark home and doing fun things all week long. We don't normally have this many outings in a week!!
Of course we had to visit the zoo during our Spring Break staycation. One of the first stops at the zoo was to the big cats. The snow leopard was pretty active and walked right past us at the window. Kara thought it was wonderful.
Clark was so excited to see the penguins and the rookery. He's a penguin expert from his recent school projects!
Kent's friend Adam came to meet us at the zoo. Kent was over the moon excited about that! They loved hanging out together.
Spring Break was a lot of fun! We had a wonderful staycation and got a lot of great use out of our museum memberships! First stop was the Children's Museum.
Ha - I think this is hilarious!
Kara and I played by the blocks and balls while the boys worked on gears and building. It was so fun to watch Kara. She was determined to hold all three balls in her hands at the same time. She would have one in each hand and then get this determined look on her face as she stretched her little fingers as far as she could to pick up the other ball. So cute.
Then the three of them all worked on towers together. Building and then Kara-zilla knocking down.
The boys loved the construction zone. Clark built a bi-plane and Kent built a racecar. There may have been a slight mommy meltdown as Kent was building the car, but the wonderful people of the museum jumped in to help him out. Thank goodness!
We FINALLY decided to renew our zoo membership last month. We haven't had one for almost a year and let me tell you...that was hard, haha! Since Clark was on Spring Break I decided to try to take them to the zoo. Jason thought he wasn't going to be able to take time off of work, but he finished a job early and was able to take a half day! Woo hoo! We decided to check out the dinos. They were actually different from the last time which was quite impressive. I thought it would be just a repeat.
Clark loved the dinos. He's an old pro at these things now. He did get a little afraid when Jason said the T-Rex was looking at him. Kent...was not too sure. He wasn't terrified, but he wasn't sure about them either. He stayed close to dad...as if that was going to save him. Silly kid! Cameron and Clark loved the fossilized dino poop. It's pictured below. Probably not hard to figure out which picture, huh?
I was so excited to see that the zoo now has a Humuhumunukunukuapua'a. It's the state fish of Hawaii and a lovely little creature that grunts like a pig. I think that is what the name means. Too funny. How do they know what sound it makes?
Some of the little enjoying the tank.
Jason enjoying the snakes and reptiles. Aye...here we go again! How many times did I have to say that a rattlesnake would NOT be a good pet?
The kids painted their faces at the Play Zoo. Cameron was the artist for Clark's dinosaur masterpiece. He has red teeth because they are bloody. Kent and Auntie Stephanie worked together on his cutie patootie.
Clark and Cameron showing off their gruesomeness.
The obligatory kangaroo picture.
We saw some cool things today. The baby Green Tree Python was so cute. As cute as a snake can be. Then there was the baby colobus monkey. Adorable. And a baby giraffe. So many babies! Then we found that there was indeed a roadrunner at the zoo. And for the first time I saw the peacock lift up its feathers and was able to snap a pic! I've seen it from behind before (not so pretty) but this was the first time I saw the front view. LOVE it!
Since we were there until closing, we thought we would go see the lion roar. We had a hunch that the lion roars each night just before the zoo closes. Well, we got there and there was no lion. But...there was a tiger and he roared! Hooray! So if you are ever at the zoo until closing, head on over to the big cats and you just might hear one of them too!
