We had such a great day for Kent's first birthday last week. We started the day with some of dad's homemade pancakes in special shapes just for the occasion! He's getting pretty creative with his pancake styling!
Kent enjoying his new ride in a forward facing car seat. I know they say to keep them rear facing until they are two, but that is just crazy talk. Kent loves facing forward. He looks so tiny in the carseat though.Jason took the day off and we went to the zoo. He never gets to go to the zoo with the kids and it was such a beautiful day! Our little wolves...
Clark - eye to eye with a polar bear! The Great Bear Wilderness is one of the best things in the zoo these days. You can get up close and personal with all the bears. The Grizzly met Clark too, but I couldn't get a picture. Hudson, the polar bear, kept pacing in front of the window and snarling at the kids. It was perfect!
Family picture...not great, but the best we can do these days. I asked Jason to face Kent forward...he got to do the splits...nice.
Playing in the bamboo at Tropic World. Kent just loves the zoo. Maybe it's just being outside. He was awake the entire time taking it all in and the happiest on dad's shoulders. I loved going to the zoo with a helper. It's much easier to juggle the bags, the stroller, the camera and the two kids when you have someone helping!
We didn't do a traditional cake for Kent's birthday...that will be at the party, but we did go out to Cheddar's and have dinner and their Cookie Monster sundae. Just a little treat to celebrate the day.
At the end of the day, we finally opened gifts! Clark did such a great job helping Kent. He tried to show him how to open the gifts. In the end we needed Clark's help to open them all because Kent just wasn't interested. He just wanted the opened toys to play with. He wasn't even that interested in the paper...weird.
Kent, we are so happy that you are part of our family. We love you so much and you bring so much joy to our lives. We love your quick smile, your wrinkled nose, and how you are incredibly ticklish. We love when you say up, uh-oh, and all done. You find joy in the little things and are so patient to put up with your big brother who loves you very much...too much sometimes! Everyone always says what a good baby you are, you are so laid back and like just going with the flow. Thank you for that. We love watching you learn and grow and climb the slide and stairs. We are so excited to spend another year of learning and growing and loving with you! Happy Birthday big boy!
