We Scream for SNOW Cream!

So if you are in the midwest (or most of the country, I think), you may want to give this a try while you are snowed in!

I saw this recipe on Annalea Hart the other day on how to make Snow Ice Cream. Who ever heard of such a thing? This is going to be my new "Snow Day" tradition!

Here's a little sneak peek of the conversation that I had with Clark earlier:

Me: Clark, we are going to make snow ice cream. How does that sound?
Clark: Hmmm. That sounds good.
Me: Where do you think we could find some snow?
Clark: Um, maybe outside.
Me: Do you see any snow out there? (we are supposed to be getting 2 feet)
Clark: I see a little bit out there.
Me: Just a little bit? Do you think it is enough for ice cream?
Clark: Yep. Let me get my boots on.

A little bit of snow? Sheesh...

Send your little helper out into the snow so you don't have to get cold!

Mix up the following:
~1/2 gallon of snow
~1/2 cup sugar
~1/2 tsp. vanilla
~1 1/4 cups milk

Mix until creamy.

Enjoy!

Next time we might try cream instead of milk. It seemed a bit watery. And we'll definitely freeze it before we enjoy. I think we were just too excited to try it out this time! Any other suggestions?

Finished product:

Clark loved his. He said it was the best snow cream he's ever had.

I decided to let Kent in on the fun and give him some plain snow. He thought it was cruel and unusual punishment until it melted. Then he wanted more!
I'd love to know if you make this or if you have any suggestions for more successful snow cream. I MUST perfect the recipe if this is to be our tradition!

Keep warm!

Although I'm sure the blizzard is a big pain in the midwest's butt - I have to admit that I'm a little bit jealous of everyone getting the next few days off!

I'll be trying snow cream the very next time we get snow out here. After all, we APPARENTLY have the best snow on earth. Perhaps that goes for taste as well!
