Toy Bin Labels

Shoot - this isn't on my bucket list. But it's DONE! Woo hoo!

A new year means new attempts at organization, right? We have serious issues in our play room. I figured that labels on our bins would help Clark and others know where the toys should be put away. It was actually pretty easy...so why did it take me so long?

I did a little photo session of the toys this morning while the kids were playing with Gigi. Then I printed them on labels (I used Avery 8163) and affixed them to our bins. Done. Avery 8163 are 2"x4" - nice and big!

I actually had to print the labels in 2 steps. I printed the pictures first and then ran it back through with the words. I HATE working in MS Word. Can labels be done in Photoshop? I'm even embracing the fact that the words overlap the pictures on a few occasions.

Don't they look great? I love bins all lined up in a row. These are similar to these bins from IKEA. We did buy them at IKEA, but I couldn't find the blue ones to link. They are $1.99 each or something wonderful like that! Hoo and ray!

Here's a sneak peak of the whole playroom. I just LOVE it. It's so PLAYful!
So tell me...do labeled bins in playrooms actually work?

me again...

first, you can print labels in Photoshop--you can DL a template from Avery to use (if you use generic labels they will usually tell you the Avery number)

second, labels have never worked for my kids (or dh for that matter); hopefully you will have more success

third, AWESOME playroom--so fun and bright and is the ceiling black? So cool.

WoW...That is the coolest play room Mary. Good job. Two very lucky boys. I bet Jason loves it too.

It turned out very nice. Great job I can't believe you got it done in an afternoon, without help. Gigi.

Yes, toy bin labels with pictures do work. When my sons were younger I did this same thing and it helped tremendously! I have run a daycare in my home for several years and when I apply the photo label system it always works.

By the way, Love the marvel comic pictures decorating the wall! (found you from Tidy Mom)
