Easter 2014

Easter 2014 was two days of non-stop fun. Yep...two days. We celebrated on Saturday with Jason's family. Cute little kids in a fun hammock swing!

Kara loved the Easter egg hunt. Especially since people just brought the eggs to her.

Kara is funny with sunglasses. She doesn't like to keep them on but we just keep putting them back on her and made it a game. We put them on, she pulls them off and makes a little pffffffttt sound. Then we do it again. And again. And again.

We spent Sunday evening with my family at my brother's house. There was lots of hula hooping! And more eggs of course!

Belated Easter Celebrations

The Wilde's weren't able to have Easter on Easter this year, so we postponed it. Didn't you know you could do that? Easter is whenever you want it to be...not just when the calendar says so. It's always fun to have an extra holiday dinner if you ask me. And it's nicer that we could do two holiday dinners on different days this year. We usually have to do them both on one day. That isn't fair to this prego mama. I was in enough discomfort as it was after one meal. But really...who cares about that?!

Let's get to the egg hunt! Jason had to photograph it since I couldn't really walk.

This picture was taken after Clark fell into the water. Uncle Brandon and Uncle Cody were in charge of hiding the eggs. They just threw them out in the yard wherever. Well, Grandma did not like that one bit so she made them go back outside and hide them again so that it would be a challenge for the kids. Brandon decided to EMPTY an egg and throw it in a puddle of water. I guess the boys were all racing for it and Clark got a little too close. All for an EMPTY egg. I think Uncle Brandon should have put a $5 bill in there or something for the poor guy.

Easter in an Eggshell

It's kind of like a nutshell. 

It was Saturday night and we still hadn't dyed our Easter eggs. Sometimes I think there are just too many traditions to keep up with. There aren't enough hours in the day. We managed to create a few crazy eggs. Not that we eat them or hide them or do anything with them. We just make them and then throw them away. That's why we only do 6.

Then Clark remembered that we had to hide carrots. I forgot to buy the big carrots for the bunny, so we had to hide two baby carrots each. Clark was so worried that he would get a small Easter basket since the carrots were small. I don't think he got a small Easter basket at all! The bunny surprised mom, dad and Kara with goodies too. I've always wanted one of these big Reese's eggs. I'm just waiting for the perfect moment to sink my teeth into it. I was going to save it for Conference weekend, but then I got sick. Kara got a big kiss that she shared with her dad and Jason got his favorite Sour Punch things.

I think giving kids magnifying glasses for every holiday is a great idea. Their baskets and all of the candy and toys look bigger that way.

We were able to spend the majority of Easter with my family this year. That was a welcome treat! Auntie Kelli got some cascarones (confetti filled eggs) and the kids pelted each other with them in the front yard. Nothing says Happy Easter like throwing eggs at your family.

Then we had a fun egg hunt where the boys made out like bandits with toys, money and candy galore.

The rest of the evening was a blast too, but I was too full or tired to take pictures of it! I guess that's the mark of a great holiday get together!

What a wonderful day! Easter really ranks up there with one of the best holidays ever. I've loved teaching and learning about the Easter story with the boys this year. We are so grateful that our Savior suffered and died for us. We are also grateful that He was resurrected and that He lives. We know that we can live again too and be a family forever because of Christ's sacrifice. I'm glad I'll be spending eternity with these guys.

On a more secular note...this year I made matching bow ties (at their request) and suspenders for the boys. They looked so cute! Jason wouldn't wear a bow tie, so I made him a regular tie to match the boys. Then I had to make myself a nice little flower out of the same material so we could all coordinate. What dorks, I know! Something about Easter screams coordinating spring outfits.

Easter in May

I'm loving these flashbacks...aren't you? Now we get to enjoy a little bit of Easter in May. I wish they were still selling Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs.

We tried to get a family picture before church but only had a few minutes and a tripod. So here's the best we could do...poor posing and all!

I've failed again at choosing a reasonable egg dye kit. Here's last year's attempt. This year I picked the kit where you melt crayon wax on hot eggs. That's totally safe for a 1 and 4 year old. Notice Kent blowing on his little burnt finger in the photo below. Clark also gives bunny ears at a very appropriate time. Whenever I start taking pictures Kent turns his head to the side and asks, "see?" It's too dang cute.

In Jason's family, the kids used to hide a carrot for the Easter Bunny to find. The Bunny would then leave their basket where they left the carrot. The kids were so creative with their hiding spots. Clark hid his under the coffee table and Kent hid his on top of the same table. Made it easy for the E.B. though.

Kent found the football first thing and didn't want to look at anything else. That is until he found out that there was candy in some of those eggs! Clark knows what he's doing and tears through one thing after another with such speed and fury that I usually only get a blur in photos. He did learn about the delicate nature of eggs this year as he crashed the two eggs together after he found them. Good thing they were hard-boiled!

Easter Egg hunt - Wilde style

I'm not sure how it happened, but this year there were a lot of empty eggs. I'm guessing one of the boys opened the eggs and then left the empty carcass on the ground. It was great to watch Clark and Zachery open up eggs and keep saying, "hey...it's empty." Clara decided to just eat the basket since there wasn't any candy. Kent gave up entirely and just played with the big ball. And Eve clung to the hopes of shiny little barrettes.

Easter Egg Hunt with the Dark Side

My mom does a glow in the dark Easter Egg hunt each year. This year she stepped it up and bought them each headlamps for their Easter baskets. They looked so funny with them on! She put those glow stick bracelets in the big eggs with the money. We were pretty anxious, so we started before it got really dark, maybe next year we'll be able to hold out a big longer!

Just hilarious.

Easter 2011

A few days before Easter, I decided that maybe this year would be a good year for us to start dyeing Easter eggs. I think Clark was ready, but I wasn't. I mean...who knew...I have a Master's degree and had to look up how to boil eggs, seriously?! Yes. Once we had that figured out, the rest was easy. Messy, but easy.

Grandma and Grandpa picked up these cool glasses for Clark along with some mail order praying mantis eggs. Clark absolutely LOVES these glasses. We call him SuperMantis! Note to self: do not bring these glasses to church again.

Opening Easter eggs was the best part of the day. Really...the rest of the stuff was pushed aside if there was a little egg with a treasure inside.

Kent got a basket too, but he didn't care one whit about it. Clark ended up taking all his toys out of his basket too.

 We do two Easter egg hunts too. One with Grandma and Grandpa and family...

Don't you love this lamb-y cake? It's tradition for us to have one every year with my family. Apparently they aren't popular all over the country. Have you ever seen one? or eaten one?

The Easter holiday ended with a bang...or a bruise, maybe. Clark got his first black eye. He fell down on the stairs at Dave and Kelli's house.

 A few band-aids and he's all better. Band-aids are amazing. Honestly.

That night he stayed overnight by Dave and Kelli's. He had such a fun time. He didn't want to come home at all. Josh, on the other hand, was definitely ready to be rid of him by the next day!!

Easter Delayed...

I love having someone who will eat the black jelly beans! Jason and Clark have to fight over them now.
